What's wrong with my iPod/iPod charger?

When I plug my iPod's charger in, It doesn't show up on iTunes, but the little orange light comes on. It was working fine a few days ago, but now it's not. There is nothing wrong with the wire. It sometimes says: Device not recognized. Its a 4th Generation Shuffle. Even though the little orange light appears, it doesn't charge. What's Up?
